Today Omnium Radio's Calum_at_Large met with the founder of Plymouth Football Boot Bank, Luke Riggs to talk about the amazing work he is doing for people suffering from financial hardship in sport.
Luke founded Plymouth Football Boot Bank after seeing all-to-often through coaching players with unsuitable or broken boots and wanted to make a change so that football is accessible to all, regardless of your income.
Plymouth Football Boot Bank refurbish and restore 2nd hand or used football boots and equipment to donate to families and individuals who are suffering financial hardship and would otherwise not be able to afford the kit.
Starting from his garden shed a little over 2 years ago, a project which started with his son's football boots, Luke has since expanded his work to donating over 200 pairs of boots a month! Fantastic work!
Of those boots, 90 Percent of all donated kit is given to people within the local area of Plymouth and surrounding areas and the remaining 10 percent is donated abroad to players in African countries.
To donate to Plymouth Football Boot Bank you can contact them on Facebook or you can drop your sports equipment into one of their 60+ Blue Bin donation points located at many sports complexes and schools. Equipment such as; Football Boots, Shin Pads, Goalkeepers Gloves, Footballs, Training Equipment and much more are very much appreciated...it all goes to a very good cause!

Luke has never wanted to charge anyone for their boots and JannerAid raises the funds to allow them to carry on the fantastic work with no cost to the end user.
It was fantastic to meet with Luke and talk about the great work he is doing in our local and wider community helping give aspiring players the equipment they need and giving poverty the boot. Unbelievable Jeff!
